Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has proclaimed a state of calamity - defined by circumstances including numerous deaths, major damage to property, and interruption of income sources and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.
The weather system, known locally as Tino, devastated the densely inhabited island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and sweeping cars through the streets.
Many thousands of people had to be relocated, with many taking refuge in designated safe zones.
