Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
