Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
